Arsenal win the possession battle, but lost the three points to a ruthless Manchester United team at the Emirates. For the first time in four years, United triumphed away at Arsenal and the have David De Gea to thank. The Spaniard goalkeeper pulled 14 saves, the joint-most by a goalkeeper in a single Premier League game alongside Tim Krul, Newcastle v Spurs in Nov 2013, and Vito Mannone, Sunderland v Chelsea in Apr 2014.
De Gea asserted himself and earned praises as the acclaimed best goalkeeper in the world. At the end of the game Jose Mourinho glorified the performance as the "best from a goalkeeper in the world" in the words of Mourinho, "you need the keeper to be there for you when the team needs". Most remarkable of all those acrobatic saves was a double save to deny Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez with the score at 2-1 early in the second half.
The spectacular performances by David De Gea will definitely spark another round of rumours from Bernabeu. The Spanish press will add embers to the fuel of speculation Real Madrid are ready to break the banks to acquire the goalkeeper. Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for De Gea but he has not let speculation affect his performances on the pitch. He has been with United since 2011, but his loyalty will surely be tested again next summer if Real Madrid come calling with a fat cheque.
