In the first match of the round of 16 of Makama Football Competition, Samba boys defeated Kulishin United 4-2 on penalties to book their place in the quarter final of the championship after the normal 90 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. Samba boys striker muscled pass two of Kulishin United's defenders to open the scoring after seven minutes of play. Kulishin United were outplayed in the middle of the park but found their way into the game after theire striker was brought down inside Samba's box and Hezekiah stepped in to equalized for the Shongom Club. United started asking Samba boys keeper questions but failed to find the back of the net. they hit the woodwork twice but couldn't one before the match ended in a 1-1 draw. With the constitution of the competition stating that "if the normal 90minutes ends in a stalemate, there will be no added extra time, rather the match go into straight penalty shootout". such was applied as Samba boys went on to win the shootout...

After a successful completion of the first round of the competition, the race for qualification into the quarter finals of Makama Football Competition kick starts today.with clubs from Kaltungo and Shongom Local Governments of Gombe state sets to face each other in the round of 16. Clubs that will be taking part in this level includes: Aston Villa Pero Boys Kalaring United, Wange United, Highlanders, Kampandi United, Kwa United, Oska Fc, Samba boys, Kulishin United, Kushi Pillars, Alfa Fc, All Stars, Dinge flying bees, Gujuba United and Kaltungo boys. The icebreaker will be between Samba boys V Kulishin United by 3pm at the Olusegun Obasanjo stadium Kaltungo.

In the ongoing All African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria, Nigeria’s youth Volleyball team beat Egypt in the final to win the gold. In a game that was evenly contested, Nigeria emerged victorious after five sets with a 25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 25-14 and 14-16 wins. On their road to this glory, the youth team conquered the likes of Tunisia, Gambia to top their pool and beat the host of the AYN Algeria in the semi-finals to reach the final.

The 2018 edition of Talba football competition is set to return after the 2018 FIFA World cup. This was confirmed by the secretary of the organizing committee Murtala Sambo on Tuesday. The competition which was put on hold before the FIFA mundial in Russia is set to resume this weekend with the finals of Balanga Local Government to determine the winner and the runner up.
