PERU CAPTAIN TO MISS WORLD CUP


Peru Captain and record goal goal scorer Paolo Guerrero will miss next year's FIFA World Cup in Russia after he was given a one year ban by football governing body for testing positive of cocaine.
The 33 year old striker tested positive after Peru's World Cup qualifier against Argentina on the 5th of October this year.
"The player tested positive for cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine, a substance included in WADA’s 2017 Prohibited List under the class “S6. Stimulants”, FIFA said it's website.
FIFA also said "By testing positive for a prohibited substance, the player has violated article 6 of the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations and, as such, contravened article 63 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code".
Guerrero's suspension start from the 3rd of November 2017, the day he was provisionally suspended by the chairman of FIFA disciplinary committee.
Guerrero who once played for Bayern Munich has scored 33 goals in 84 appearances for Peru.
