In the first match of the round of 16 of Makama Football Competition, Samba boys defeated Kulishin United 4-2 on penalties to book their place in the quarter final of the championship after the normal 90 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw.Samba boys striker muscled pass two of Kulishin United's defenders to open the scoring after seven minutes of play. Kulishin United were outplayed in the middle of the park but found their way into the game after theire striker was brought down inside Samba's box and Hezekiah stepped in to equalized for the Shongom Club.
United started asking Samba boys keeper questions but failed to find the back of the net. they hit the woodwork twice but couldn't one before the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
With the constitution of the competition stating that "if the normal 90minutes ends in a stalemate, there will be no added extra time, rather the match go into straight penalty shootout". such was applied as Samba boys went on to win the shootout 4-2 to advance to the next round of the competition.
The round of 16 matches continues today with Oska boys set to face a Boh based club Alfa Academy by 3pm at the Olusegun Obasanjo stadium.
