The Gombe State Football Association have setup a five 5 man committee to investigate match fixing scandal involving some Nigerian Nationwide League clubs in the state.
In a letter dated 29th June, 2022 addressed to the Secretary Gombe State Football Association, the 3rd tier league body said it has commenced the second and final stage of investigation on established match fixing perpetrated by Flash Flamingos FC Gombe, Super Pillars FC Gombe & Gombe Warriors and Damaturu Academy from Yobe State.
The letter also indicated that there
are 8 Club officials in 4 clubs and 14 match officials involved and are under
probe as well.
In order to ensure that those involved
are identified and punished, the state have constituted an in house committee
to look and investigate the matter and bring all involved into book.
The Chairman of the Association Mr
Philibus Yakubu Sarma Said the FA frowns at such act as they will corporate with
the NLO investigation and will carry out a full investigation and make a
statement about it.
“Let me make it clear, we frowned at match
fixing in football and we would make our own investigations and brief the
public and those found wanting will face whatever punishment the law provides”.
The Gombe State FA Vice Chairman Mal.
Adamu Yakubu Kupe will serve as the
chairman of the Committee.
Other Committee members include;
Simon Shuaibu (FA Board Member) -
Member
Mal. Babawuro Mohammed (Chairman Referee
Gombe State Referees Council) - member
Mal. Hashimu Mohammed (Chairman Nationwide League forum Gombe) -
Member
Soul Kombo (FA Board member) - Member
Ahmed Sada - Secretary
The committee have two weeks to submit
their findings.
However, Mr Sarma called for calm and advised
other clubs to desist from engaging in any act that will tarnish the image of
their respective clubs and the state at large.
“The Gombe State football family should
be calm as we are on top of the situation but I advise other clubs to please
stay clear of anything that will indict them and just play football because
anything that happens now will only tarnish the image of their clubs and the
state in general”.

I wish the committee the very best. We say No to match fixing.
