The National Sports Commission (NSC) has unveiled a seven-member Electoral Committee that will supervise the forthcoming National Sports Federations Elections, with Malam Farouk Yarma named among its members.
The Committee, according to a statement signed by Dr Kehinde Ajayi, Director of Information & Public Relations of the NSC, is tasked with ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in the conduct of the elections across participating sports federations.
The Electoral Committee is chaired by Dr. Simon Ebhojiaye, with Barr. Samson Ebomhe as Vice Chairman. Other members are Mr. Lawal Adeoye Waheed, Hon. Tunde Popoola, Barr. Maryam Orotope Paul, Malam Farouk Yarma, and Mrs. Rita Mosindi will serve as Secretary.
In his reaction, Malam Farouk Yarma expressed gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a rare privilege and a call to national service.
“My appointment by the leadership of the NSC into this very important committee is a rare privilege and a calling to serve. In sha Allah, I will use my experience and wisdom to add value to this national assignment,” Yarma stated.
The Committee will announce the election timetable and oversee all processes leading to and including the conduct of the elections.
The NSC assured stakeholders and the general public of the integrity of the exercise and called on all members of the sports community to extend their full support and cooperation to the Committee in carrying out the national assignment.
