Herwagana Stars FC are crowned champions of the 2025 Gombe State League One after defeating Bappah Boys 3-1 in a scintillating final at a fully-parked Pantami Stadium.
The victory marked a sweet redemption for Herwagana Stars, who lost in the 2024 final to Landa Boys, while Bappah Boys were making their maiden appearance in the final match.
Herwagana Stars took control of the contest with goals from Faruq Fada, Nuhu Tevez, and Al’amin Maradona, while Musa Wasar netted the consolation for Bappah Boys.
The final was graced by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau, and the Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, among others.
Speaking after the match, the Deputy Governor commended the players for their performance and encouraged them to keep striving.
“I want to thank both teams for showing great quality today. You have demonstrated talent and commitment, and I encourage you to pursue more opportunities, as a promising future lies ahead for you. I also thank the FA for always coming up with competitions that give young people opportunities,”.
FA Chairman, Yakubu Sarma, in his remarks, appreciated the government’s continued support for grassroots football.
“We are grateful to His Excellency the Deputy Governor for always finding time to attend our matches. His presence is a big motivation to the players and the entire football community. I also thank all our guests and the teams that participated in this year’s State League One,” Sarma stated.
This year’s final also stood out as both teams were kitted by Prudential Sports, following a partnership with the FA.
Meanwhile, Herwagana Stars and Bappah Boys will now shift their focus to the Nationwide League One (NLO2) playoffs, where they will represent Gombe State in Bauchi and Yobe States, respectively.
